Being a test board I had experimented with new resin techniques and layup procedures.  As is the board is ready to ride so I am letting this board go for $125.00

With a little help from my videos and some helpfull insights Hunter Howard was able to bang out this kickin skimboard. He was joined by Max Howard and his long time friend Seton Trostle. They will be testing the waters on this board in Carlsbad, Cali.

Just started a new series of boards called Kid Pics  I will be posting some pics soon. I just finished the glassing on both sides today and will be laying down the flood and gloss coat this weekend.  Great weather for it here in Northern California. You will find me in my driveway glassing away.

We Shoot Blanks.....

Looking for a Blank to make your next skimboard.  We have what you need .  Have you gone to your loco big fix-it-up store looking for Styrene for your next skim creation and they just don't have what you need?  No worries, get your blank here.

We have two different types of blanks to meet your budget and creativity needs.  Our first blank is the simple Flat Blank.  The Flat Blank is one flat sheet of 2 LB Styrene that measures 55" x 21" x .75".  This is a bare blank ready for you to cut to your own shape and bend in a rocker if needed or leave it flat.

The Second blank we have is our West Coast Rocker Blank. The WCR is a cut to size blank that already has the shape of a skimboard and with the rockers already in place in the front and rear of the board. The size of the WCR is 50" x 19" x .75".  When you get this blank all you have to do is finish the rails and shape the tail as you like, or leave as is and then glass.  The WCR is definitely the simplest way to get started on your first board.  Most of the shaping and the bending of the rocker is complete.

The price of the blanks are as follows:

Flat Blank - $25.00 + 15.00 shipping or local pickup in Northern California.

WCR Blank - $65.00 + 18.oo shipping or Local pickup in Northern California.

Balsa Skimboard

I will start my latest creation real soon.  I am embarking on a balsa wood skimboard.  I will use an EPS core for strength and overall weight reduction.  I will laminate the top an bottom with balsa veneers and block out the rails to shape with solid blocks of Balsa.

Look forward to this board coming soon.  The top and bottom deck will be laminated with lighter and darker wood to create a classic style of the Balsa surfboards or the Vintage Skateboards.

We went to the Strangers Car show last week in San Jose.  If you have never made this show you have to check it out.  From the finest Low Rider to the rustyist Rat Rod this show has it all.

Amongst all of the booths where vendors were selling their goods was this booth selling Jewelry and art work.  The artist was Steve Caballero.  Check out these two prints I purchased from him.  Cool prints that are printed on the back side of glossy sheets.  This is a cool effect.

Of course I got him to sign them and got a photo.
This econoline is Steve's personal ride.

Check it out, I'm on TV - As Seen On TV!

10,000 Hits !

I know it is small compared to some of those YouTube videos with millions of hits but it's big for me.  I am almost at 10,000 hits on one of my How-To Videos on YouTube.  When I get there I will try and do something big. Well maybe not that big but something, lookout for it.  I think I am at 9,548 hits right now.  If you combined all my hits on all of my videos I am well over 10,000 but this is just for one video.

Start making your board today.  Making you own skimboard is fun and rewarding.  You can add any graphics you desire, even your own picture on the board.  The kits a shipped directly to you and all you need to add is the Epoxy Resin.  Most 2 part Epoxy Resins will work but a good Surfboard water white resin will work the best.

7 yards of 6 oz glass
1 Styrene board precut at 55" ( you can always cut it down to a shorter length)
12 mixing cups large and small
Multiple stir sticks
Sand Paper
1 roll 3m 2" wide blue tape
10 sets of disposable latex gloves
4 wide brushes for the flood and gloss coats
4 plastic spreaders for the initial glass layup

all you need to add is the Epoxy Resin.
