For a nice high end wood board you can follow the same steps but to a lesser degree. A wood board really only needs a good varnish. If I was laminating my own wood board i might incorporate some fiberglass inbetween the layers for added flexability. If i am using a prelaminated board i might use fiberglass on the bottom only for added durability.
Cut out your wood board , add graphics, and varnish and then go skim. you can create a rocker on a wood board with fiberglass and a mold to hold the board into while the glass is setting up.
